A hardcover copy, Undated but 1920's of Angela Brazil's Monitress Merle , published by Blackie UK, internally very good in illustrated boards , with no marks damage or inscriptions, light foxing to prelims , 256, usual age darkening and light dustmarking to page block.
The dustjacket is present, in fair condition, has been internally strengthened with tape ( relatively neatly) at some point. A small triangular area is missing at the base of the spine.

Angela Brazil - 1868-1947 was one of the first British writers of "modern schoolgirl stories", written from the characters' point of view and intended primarily as entertainment rather than moral instruction. In the first half of the 20th century she published nearly 50 books of girls' fiction, the vast majority being her hugely popular boarding school stories . She also published numerous short stories in magazines.
