The author Jose manuel Davalos ( here in the latinate version of Josephi Emanuel De Davalos) ( 1858 - 1921) was a mixed race doctor ( uncommon in South America) , who unale to study in Peru due to his race, who travelled to Montpelier in France to gain his degree. When he returned to South America, he was the insigator of the widespread use of eth smallpox vaccine in th ecountry.
A pencilled note on te first page gives Boblioteca Peruana as number 2626. A loose laid in auction descriptio sheet is included, the publication is housed in a trasnparent plastic cover.
