Product Description
'Three Men from Clare' by Jackie Elger & Patricia Sheehan, and published by Cat Beag Books, is a book of the memories of George Casey (born 1924), Tom Cusack (1925-2015) and Morgie O'Connell (born 1925).
Over a period of seven years, two oral historians, Jackie Elger and Patricia Sheehan, recorded George Casey, Tom Cusack and Morgie O'Connell, who all live in rural south western Clare. This book was the result - transcribed from recordings. They recall their schooldays, farm work, dancing, socialising, sport, local people, and much more - all aspects of rural life in 20th century Clare. This book is not only the history of the lives of these three men, but also gives the history of a community and how it has evolved and changed over the past century. It encompasses the villages and townlands of Kildysart, Cranny, Coolmeen , Ballynacally, Labasheeda and beyond.
Paperback - with photographs throughout - both period and taken specially for the book - in colour and b&w, 180 pages, published by Cat Beag Books, Clare, 2018.
