Full of details and anecdotes, this is a superb accomplishment. Very much written from a point of view of oncoming war, Gunther manaaged to clearly spot a number of trends and inyerview a huge number of key figures in each area he visited.
There is a period bookplate on te inside front free endpaper, as well as a later 2003 signature on the same page. Light edgewear to covers, lacks original dustjacket, but solid in grey cloth covers with map of Asia fold out internally. Some underlining on pencil on the chapter on Japan ( this looks to be period)
