The first edition , 1963 of the slim 56 page booklet issued by the ( then) Kilmainham Jail restoration Committee. Somewhat unbelievably, given te crucial role it played in Irish history, the then disused jail was not in public ownership and had not been restored since it ceased being used in 1924 ( with, perhap ironically, Eamon de Valera being the last prisoner .
A basic history of Irish political prisoners held in the institution from the 1790's to 1924 - a veritable who's who of Irish Republicanism. Also contains a number of patriotic songs and poems .
