Micheál Mac Liammóir was one of Ireland's most notable actors and was the co-founder of the gate Theatre with his long time partner Hilton Edwards. This is a memoir of his youth ( written almost as a novel) - where he is the subject ( as Martin Weldon) , a child actor, who moved from his native Cork with th e faily to London as a child, met and worked with the yoing Noel Coward, and subsequently moved back to Ireland in 1917, and eventally became an artist, learned Irish, and was later involved in teh foundation of the Taibhdhearc in galway and the gate in Dublin. A gay man in an era when Irish publicly out gay men were rarities, he lived most of his life with his theatre partner, Hilton.
