First published in 1921, this is undated, but mat be the first printing, or certainly an early one. Nelson did not normally date most of their publicatiosn at this period, especailly so these 'Boy's Adventure' series, as they were often termed.
During the first world war Walmsley ( 1892-1966) served as an observer with the Royal Flying Corps in East Africa, was mentioned in dispatches four times and was awarded the Military Cross. After a plane crash he was sent home, and eventually pursued a literary career. He settled in Cornwall, where he became friendly with the writer Daphne du Maurier.
