Product Description
A companion volume to "The Family Poetry Book", this is a collection of 100 favourite poems, chosen by 50 celebrities. These include Martin Amis, Beryl Bainbridge, Richard Briers, Jilly Cooper, Charles Dance, Jonathan Dimbleby, Denis Healey, Glenys Kinnock and John Julius Norwich. Traditional favourites - Hood's "I Remember, I Remember" or Keats' "Ode on Melancholy" - mix with rarer choices, such as the anonymous "To an Adopted Child". Many moods - from Ingrid Jonker's "The Child who was Shot Dead by Soldiers at Nyanga" to Marriott Edgar's "The Lion and Albert" - are represented here, by writers from many ages - from Horace, Queen Elizabeth I and Donne to John Betjeman, Philip Larkin and Roger McGough.
