Perhaps best known to modern readers as the author of The Blue Lagoon ( filmed many times and most famously in 1980 with Brooke Shields) Henry De Vere Stacpoole was born in Dún Laoghaire ( then Kingstown) Dublin , from a notable Anglo-Irish family.
This is a first edition of his short story collection Pierrette, published by John Lane , London 1900 - First edition. The artwork, externally and internally is by the renowned artist and book illustrator Charles Robinson.
Cover wraparound art by the Robinson also, in an almost art deco style ( despite the eearly date) Untrimmed page ends ( as issued) gilt finish ( faded) to the top edges of the page block. The binding is loosened, especially at the front gutter, ( internally) and small splits or closed cracks are visible externally at back edges .
Bumps to top and base of spine, and compressed bumps to corners.
