The history of the British Red Cross is a story of service in the cause of world humanity. This book marks its 125th anniversary with a collection of stories that are told through the eyes of those who have first-hand knowledge of the Society, those who worked in its service and those who owe their lives to it. The book sets out to illustrate the variety of work done by the Red Cross, from Lockerbie to Sarajevo, from sending Red Cross parcels to caring for families and those who have been in hospital.
