Product Description
A hardcover copy of the translation to English of Breandán Ó hEithir's Lead Us Into Temptation ( Lig Sin i gCathú ) , published in this edition by Routledge Keegan Paul, 1978, originally published as Gaeilge in 1976. Set in the fictionalised university town of Ballycastle in 1949 ( a thinly disguised Galway City) the year Ireland declared itself a republic and withdrew from the British Commonwealth. Máirtín Ó Mealóid, a pub crawling university student, and his disreputable friends are too busy drinking and lusting after girls to pay much attention to this significant political development. The story takes place over four days , and is a wry examination of the social and political life in the city at the time.
A rather more frank sexuality than in many novels set in the period .
Fade to spine, from yellow to pale white.
Uneven fade to spine and sunning to covers. Good overall, internally unmarked.
