Published in Dublin by Talbot Press, 1932. The Official Handbook of the Irish Free State, a publication of the Irish government, issued partly as a celebarion of a decade of independence, and partly as a book 'advertising' the state, it;s history and prospects.
The (uncredited) editor was Bulmer Hobson, an important figure in Irish Republican history. A very handsome book, with brightly illustrated Celtic design to the covers, as well as beingm illustrated internally by many prominent Irish artists; over thirty chapters on all aspects of the history, culture, government, geology, art, literature, etc of the country.
A very good copy, with the all important folded OS map of the whole island in the custom pouch inside the back cover ( also in very good condition) .
Both map and book are signed by a previous owner 'Philib ó Riain, 1932'
Black cloth binding with titles in Celtic lettered motif to front and back. 324 pages plus 150 pages of adverts in the rear. Light bumping and edgewear only.
