Product Description
A thrilling children's adventure novel based on the true story of an Ethiopian who ended up as a wealthy landowner and as a general in the Russian army - and also managed indirectly to change the course of Russian literary history, since his great grandson was Alexander Pushkin. Most of all it's the story of a boy who never gives up.
Abraham Hannibal and the Raiders of the Sands is the first of two novels covering the life of Abraham. In this, the first, Frances describes Abraham as a boy in Ethiopia, visiting the Emperor in his frescoed castles, marvelling at the mightly obelisks, contending with crocodiles and landslides; it tells of his departure to see Louis XIV, his capture by brigands in Arabia, and his journey into slavery, savagely interrupted by being shipwrecked on a Greek Island.
