The race for the League Championship between Celtic and Heart of Midlothian is highlighted and covered in detail. The perception that the Heart of Midlothian players decision to join the Army midway through the season cost them the League title is explored and revealed as the myth that it most certainly is. The book also highlights is the major role played by the Celtic club officials in saving professional Scottish Football from being suspended for the duration of the war.
