This is the handbook of the Organisation, issued to each member, this being the revised 1969 edition.
Founded by Irishman Frank Duff ( 1889-1980) its initial focus was relief of poverty , in founding soup kitchens in Dublin , and trying to shut down the brothers in Dublin's large redlight district north of the Custom House in central Dublin. A senior civil servant who worked under Collins and Cosgrave, Duff was unpopular with some in the church because of his roots-up approach to spirituality, and his inclusion of women and men together in the organization, as well as his openness to all members regardless of social standing.
Duff wrote the handbook himself, and this edition includes a number of reprints of papal letters to the organization.
The 'Legion' was one of a number of organisations which were not part of the organised church per se, but were influential at local levels.
