Product Description
The Story of the Rossport Five began in the summer of 2000 when Enterprise Oil first publicly identified a scenically beautiful part of north Mayo as the location for an enormous gas-processing project.
The subsequent effort to develop that project in the face of local opposition tells us much about the character of contemporary Ireland. This book describes the coalition of powerful forces - ranging from Church and State to the enormously influential oil and gas industry - which sought to force this project through.
This book describes in details the personal struggle of five men, their wives and families in a beautiful remote Mayo village against the compulsory takeover of their land by the conglomerate Shell.
