Marese O'Shea changed the face of prostitution in Ireland, instituting the vetting of customers, protecting escorts for whom she acted as agent, charging high fees which ensured a certain standard of customer, and implementing contracts and questionnaires. A born saleswoman, Marese launched innovations, such as: a male escort "toy boy" service for wealthy bored women; bringing prostitution to the provinces in "good-time girls go on a sex tour of Ireland"; the Marese O'Shea Bureau for introducing customers and escorts with a view to long-term relationships. Marese O'Shea lived in the most luxurious apartment in Dublin four, and had everything money could buy. But private difficulties related to health and family obliged Marese to wind down the business in order to get her own life back on track.
Her escort agency still exists as an exclusive membership-only club for good-time girls.
