HEAVY SUNNING AND FADE TO THE SPINE, FROM PALE PINK TO NEAR WHITE.
Although written as a novel-like narrative , this is based on events in Cork during the war of Independence in 1921 - notably the Dripsey Ambush.
It took O’Callaghan two and a half years to research. Among his sources were Commdt Frank Busteed, ambush survivors Denis Murphy, Michael Kelly, Christy Twomy, Dan McCarthy. He spoke with the late Paud O’Donoghue and his wife (nee Twomy), as well as Miss Jellett and Mrs West.
