They’ll do anything to protect their children…
Having taken matters into her own hands, a triumphant Emily is travelling towards a brighter future. The only thorn in her side is her mulish companion, Rory, who insists upon aggravating her at every opportunity. She believes she has become mistress of her own destiny but a monumental betrayal dashes her hopes and leaves her in a highly precarious position.
Back in Boston, the family she left behind are reeling from the impact of her rash actions. Faced with a difficult decision, they find themselves pulled in different directions. In the midst of fear and uncertainty, further peril befalls them, putting their sons at terrible risk too.
How far will Cormac and Bridget go to save their children? And will their once-happy family ever be whole again?
A Class Reunited is the fifth book in Susie Murphy’s historical fiction series A Matter of Class. The story will continue in the sixth book, A Class Inherited.
Praise for A Class Reunited:
‘There’s something that happens at the end of every Susie Murphy book that I read; I absolutely cannot wait for the next one.’ Kelsey Gietl, author of the War Across Waters duology
Book five in the Matter of Class series continues the story of Bridget and Cormac and their family, now settled in Boston in the mid-19th century. Their daughter Emily is all grown up and determined to regain her upper-class life, even if it means betraying her family. When Rory, her father’s apprentice, insists on joining her voyage across the ocean, she grudgingly welcomes his presence. Will these two adversaries make it through the trip as friends or foes? When Bridget and Cormac learn their daughter has run off to London with Rory, they both know Cormac must go after her despite the dangers he will most certainly encounter if he returns to the country where is destined for jail. He only hopes he can find Emily and Rory before he is caught. Bridget is left to carry on raising their young sons until the rest of her family returns, but when she receives a letter with news of Cormac’s long-lost sister, she decides she had better act immediately. She and her sister-in-law head to New York City with the boys, only to be met with unimaginable dangers. Will they make it home all together or will they be lost to one another forever?
This fast-paced tale is full of adventure, suspense, and a hint of romance. While it is possible to enjoy the book on its own, it is much better read as part of the series. The books build directly on the previous one, making this an excellent choice for those times when you need a good binge read.
