A hardcover first edition ( 1959 ) of the standard English Irish dictionary used in Ireland - Béarla go Gaeilge ( not vice versa) and published by Oifig an tSolatháir, Dublin. Binding is tight. not ex library, no school stamps etc. With the original plain dustjacket, often missing.
Glan istigh is amuigh. The (blank) front endpaper is missing.
The Caighdeán Oifigiúil/Official Standard Irish was not available in time to be implemented throughout the English-Irish Dictionary at the time of its publication in 1959 and, accordingly, the spelling and grammar of the Irish versions in English-Irish Dictionary are not wholly compliant with the later Caighdeán Oifigiúil.
