Small bookbinders / bookseller's label to inside front cover from Thomas Pace , North Street, Brighton . Gilt edging to inside on front and rear covers also as well as ( bright) gilt page ends . Bumping to corners, but the binding is tight. Foxing and age spotting to the title page, the text itself is unaffected . 281 pages. Published by Edward Moxon & Co, Dover Street, London, 1867, and descibed as 'a New Edition' .
The first set of Idylls, "Enid", "Vivien", "Elaine", and "Guinevere", was published in 1859, the dedication ( included here) ws added in 1862. (Subsequent extended editions were published up to 1873)
There is also a neat inked period gift inscription to the ( otherwise blank) front endpapers To honble ( honourable) T.W Bury, with the kindest wishes of Mrs Kemball ( ?) Cook, Midsummer 1868 ( i. e the year after initial publication of this edition).
