The historian Jean Sheridan travels to a former meeting in her hometown, where she and six others from her year to be awarded. The meeting is overshadowed by the news that one of the six was found dead in her pool a few days earlier - the fifth of her year, who died in an enigmatic way. Finally, Jean Detective Sam Regan, who stubbornly identifies in a year-long murder of a young woman, is introduced to the awards. Is there a connection between this case and the fate of the dead schoolmate? No one suspects yet that the killer, who calls himself the "owl", is among those present at the award ceremony and has already chosen his last victim.
