A hardcover facsimile edition, Ballinakella Press & Boethius Press, 1987 of George Holmes's 1797 Sketches of some southern counties ( of Ireland) , originally published in 1801.
Formatted as a series of 'letters' from Holmes, starting in Kilkenny, travelling to Cashel, holycross, silvermines, Killaloe, Castleconnell, Limerick city, Adare, Glin then to Tarbert, Castleisland, Killarney & Muckross, Milllstreet, cork , Cloyne and Lismore & Cappoquin. Holmes visited and commented on a number of castles churches, and what he met on his journeys.
This is copy numbered 600 from the print run of 660. Includes map and an exact facsimile of the first edition, as well as an introduction by Hugh Weir.
