Product Description
Sean Boylan is the longest serving football manager in the history of the GAA. For 20 Stimmers he has walked the Meath sideline, and he has done so, always, in a warm, engaging manner - in direct contrast to the football teams he has sent into battle over the same 20 years! Boylan's Meath earned a reputation, very early on, as being the toughest and most aggressive team in modern day Gaelic football. It is a label which none of his football teams have quite shaken off. And, in truth, most of his teams have found it encouraging and energising to be known as 'Public Enemy No. 1'. Single-handedly, Boylan has also brought more priceless silverware home to Meath over the last 20 years, than any other group of managers in any other single County. Meath have claimed four All-Ireland titles, three National leagues, and eight Leinster championships since Sean Boylan accepted the job which nobody wanted in September of 1982.
Now, for the first time, in 'The Boylan Years: One Man, One Team, Twenty Years' the mystery and the genius of Sean Boylan is explored through the eyes of the footballers he has sent out onto the field over the last two decades. Boylan's own boys answer all the questions which have been asked about their manager and the Meath team over the last 20 years. Over 50 footballers talk about the man himself, the victories, the defeats, the family squabbles, and the great rows which threatened to ruin many great Sundays!
Included amongst this number are Tommy Dowd, Darren Fay, Bernie Flynn, Graham Geraghty, Trevor Giles, Liam Hayes, John McDermott, Gerry McEntee, Ollie Murphy, Martin O'Connell, Bob O'Malley, Mark O'Reilly, Colm O'Rourke and Brian Stafford.
