Born in 1934 to a revolution and war experienced Irish rural ascendancy family, Hugh Weir was among the earliest of his kind to share in the evolution of modern Ireland. In spite of polio, he underwent military service and worked in London and Dublin before settling in east Clare.
He has experienced teaching, founding a youth organisation, business, writing and designing, publishing and newspaper correspondence. Today he publishes books ( as the founder of Ballinakella Press) , lectures , takes church services and is Vice-president of the Clare Archaeological and Historical Society.
