First published in 1971 by the the Kilmainham Jail Restoration Society ( despite its historical importance, the jail lay disused for much of its history after it was closed ) and edited and annotated by Piaras Mac Lochlainn. Mac Lochlainn was the former keeper of the museum records and archives for the society, and the foremost authority on the events. Mac Lochlainn conducted wide ranging correspondence with surviving family members, government papers, private sources and much more to produce the definitive account of the final correspondences of the 16 executed leaders.
Mac Lochlainn died just before the book went to print.
Condition - Book solid, unmarked internally
Condition - Dusrjacket, heavy edgewear , especially to corners, the red and black artwork ( by Cor Klassen ) is speckled and rubbed. Spill splatter mark on back cover edges. Now in a clear plastic ( modern) jacket protector.
