Product Description
A hardcover first edition ( originally 1945) of Robert Gibbings's Lovely is the Lee, published by Dent & Sons. The title is slightly misleading, as the book is as much about Galway and Conamara as it is about Cork, half being given to each. Gibbings himself was from Cork, and he had written a number of travel books that were highly popular, many illustrated by his own hand - he was an accomplished draughtsman and artist, and the engravings internally are excellent.
An account of travel, fishing, meeting people, travel to islands ( Inisbofin and the Aran Islands included) and a journey on the River Lee in Cork to finish.
Condition - Book - solid in yellow faded cloth covers, with sailboat motif to front covers. Age darkening to hear of cloth spine ( matchinmg missing dustjacket section) otherwise clean and solid, no inscriptions
