    Now out of print, this is the third and final book in Walter Macken's loose Irish Trilogy - The Scorching Wind, published in this edition by Pan Macmillan UK, 1966 ( The first paperback printing, the original hardcover was published in 1964) 

    The three books are linked by the theme of Irish history, but it is not necessary to have read any of them to be able to start on one book  - Book One ( Seek the Fair Land) was set in Cromwellian Ireland, and book 2 ( The Silent People ) in pre-Famine Ireland. 

    Uneven tanning to the page block. 

    First published 1964, the author died young, in 1967. This is a 1978 reprint,  Creasing to spine. Binding tight. 

    the title comes from the Psalms - the scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup...
