The author, Eoghan Corry , on the genesis of the book ''
''Kildare GAA was written in the period 1977-82. I started my research with a long and fascinating trawl through 130 years of local national and local newspaper files, Leinster Leader, Kildare Observer and Nationalist, back to the 1860s,. Armed with dates, names and scores, I then followed with an extensive series of interviews with players, officials and followers throughout the county. The resulting book is a bit of a tear-jerker because Kildare deserved more than their four All Ireland titles, won in 1905, 1919, 1927 and 1928, but was a deeply satisfying book to have written. Most of the interviewees were old men, Gussy Nevin in Prosperous was 104 years old when I met him. I was still a teenager. The sustained interest in this book is a tribute to the memory of those great Gaels, almost of all of whom have now passed on. Ar Dheis Dé''
