In 1850, an elderly priest - Thomas Hore - led a group of over 1000 people from their homes in wicklow and Wexford to start new lives in the US midwest - in co-ordination with clergy in Little Rock Arkansas - but the group eventually broke up and settled in locations across Iowa, Texas, Missouri and New Orleans.
