Brian Cleeve was the son of Limerick born Charles Cleeve (a member of the commercial confectionery making family). He had spent time in South Africa but was expelled by the government due to his opposition to apartheid. He wrote a wide range of books, from historical fiction to thrillers, as wella s spiritual books and works on Irish biography, as well as being an RTE broadcaster.
