I've been a Bryson fan for some time now, having just finished his latest work 'The Body', I was hungry for more. 'Notes from a Small Island' was a title I had somehow missed along the way. It came highly recommended by a colleague, a fellow Bryson enthusiast. 'Notes from a Small Island' measures up nearly exactly how I thought it would, Bryson's style of Travel Writing cuts to the core of his subject matter (in this case the intricacies, mannerisms and identity of Great Britain) providing an insight that is astonishingly truthful, often downright hilarious. Bryson remains a favourite due to his effortless ability to create works that are wonderfully educational and yet hilarious at the same time. Another fine addition to the Bryson section of the bookshelf.
