    Whilst in Canada, my beloved David was involved in a tragic drowning accident, and just like that, he was gone. Life as I knew it, was over. Everything familiar to me had changed, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. To make things even more complicated, David’s body was missing. So, as well as trying to get my head around the fact he was gone, I was also trying to understand that we did not know where he was. With all the power and might we had, and I say ‘we’, because there were so many involved in this journey, we persevered through all the pain. Against all the odds, ten months later, we found David's body and brought him home to Ireland to lay him to rest. After years of resisting any change and wearing my pain and suffering as a courtship, I tightly clung on to my grief; it was all I had left of David. It felt safe at the time; it felt like the closest thing I had to him; every tear I shed was a tear of love. But it got to a point where the grief was consuming me. I had become all grief and no Ciara. This book will discuss some of the challenges I went through on this journey, and even though David was well and truly gone, love remained. Through this love, he showed me a magical and magnificent side of life that I feel compelled to share with you all. For a long time, I could not fathom why I had been dealt these cards. I did not think I was a bad person, so why had something so awful happened to me? I know bad things happen every day of the week, but for so long I was utterly consumed by what had occurred in my life. At times, I wondered would I ever start to feel half right again. Throughout the darkness of this journey, which I can assure you at times were bleak, I started to see glimmers of light. I began to see that even though my heart was utterly broken, somehow there was a bigger plan to all of this. I started to slowly understand that, somehow, for some crazy reason, this was always destined to be my life. I had to go through something so soul-destroying to find who I was and the reason I was sent here. I can, hand on my heart, say that this journey to finding my inner strength to heal myself is my second proudest moment to date. The first being, finding David and bringing him home. To even think I am writing this book feels so surreal. After everything I have been through over the last few years, I would have been happy for a quiet life. But this book felt like a scratch itching to get out. It is so hard to explain, but I know that this book is destined to help others, to give them light and hope and help navigate whatever challenges life throws at them. In finding my way to the light, I have been exposed to a whole new level of self-awareness. I believe everything we need to heal ourselves is inside of each and every one of us. And what was even more magical and beautiful was the fact I found a connection to my loved one David in spirit. Our loved ones may leave us in the physical sense, but their love is always with us, and when they leave this world, I believe their primary duty is to protect and mind us. They are good at that. Even in our loneliest of moments, they are there right beside us, holding us, wishing we, too, could feel their presence. The purpose of this book is to show people that we can rise from our darkest moments, that there is light at the end of the tunnel and I am proof of that. But most importantly, it is to remind us all that our loved ones are always with us. I am excited for you all to see how David never left my side. He just had to show me he was around and I had to be willing to accept and be receptive to all the signs.
