Blackwood village is unique in that it was one of the few locations in Ireland that was built as a worker village, largely for and by employees of Bord na Móna, in the years following WW2. This is both a history of the village, and of the work carried out by employees for Bord na Móna, from the earliest works at Timahoe and surrounding areas.
Illustrated throughout with b&w photographs, Most of the book is in the form of short illustrated articles . Most of the photograhs are unavailable elsewhere, as they were collected locally for the book.
