A 'complete and unexpurgated' edition.
This story of Constance Chatterley's love for Mellors, her crippled husband's gamekeeper is described with painful tenderness and liberating honesty . One of the original titles of the book was 'Tenderness' , and Lawrence himself said of it I put forth this novel as an honest, healthy book, necessary for us today.
(b) The Trial of lady Chatterley - A Penguin Special subtitled Regina V Penguin books limited - a full blow by blow account of the famous trial for obscenity of the novel, where the UK state sought to prosecute the publisher under the Obscene Publications Act. Edgewear to the covers, tanning to the page block. Internal line drawings by Paul Hogarth.
