Travelling With Children . . . And Without
BOOKING CONDITIONS: Before you take off, you should know that Adults Go Free is not a travel guide. It is an anecdotal view of the highs and lows my family have experienced in Europe and beyond, sometimes travelling with children . . . sometimes without. I make no judgment about what is the best type of holiday - that is an entirely personal choice. However, every parent will know just how different each experience can be. Being a parent can be exhilarating, frustrating, joyous and difficult. Holidays with children can be the same and sometimes, for the sake of our sanity, it is essential to break loose and be an adult again. Reconnect with the feeling of late nights, cocktail bars, long walks on the beach and enjoying uninterrupted meals without trooping off to the toilet with a little hand in yours for the umpteenth time. Have a lie-in, read your book and chill out with a glass of wine without being dragged off to play areas. If you're lucky enough to have child care back-up, take comfort in the knowledge that for children, absence makes the heart grow fonder, and they'll welcome you home with a giant cuddle - especially if you've bought them a decent present. Fasten your seat belts and enjoy the trip - you're in for a bumpy read.
