Product Description
Mariol, a teenage ‘misfit' girl forces an acquaintance with a semi reclusive man in his sixties. The characters in the story come from varying socio-economic backgrounds and sexual orientation. Some love Mario and some dislike her. Those that love her, save her from the destructive forces that rage within her. This is a story of human trauma, of love, kindness, need and greed.
Mariol, grew up in Dublin in a middle to upper class family with one sibling, pre ad during the Celtic Tiger years. From an early age she is in conflict with her family and peers. She plays cynical pranks on kids for her amusement. She is generally unkind to her peers, many of whom are afraid of her. The demons within her, the sources of her unrest are not cast out until she survives her teenage years, and as an adult finds the true nature of her existence while losing both of her parents along the way.
An extrovert, she forges a relationship with Tommy, a semi reclusive, introverted man in his sixties. He is content to live as a troglodyte until Mariol enters his life. Gradually as trust between them grows, she helps him to come to terms with a great sadness in his life. She changes his way of living and provides him with a valuable link to his past. It’s not a one-way street. Unwittingly, Tommy becomes Mariol’s saviour. Neither of them, at the outset of their coming together, could have envisaged the influence they would have on each other’s life.
