Product Description
Daniel O'Connell (1775-1847) or King Dan was the most formidable Irish barrister of the age. In 1823 he founded the Catholic Association, which transformed the political scene and created the basis of modern Irish democracy. By involving large numbers of ordinary people in a democratic campaign of agitation, he was responsible for the delivery of Catholic Emancipation in 1829, and was the driving force of the later Repeal movement.
This original 1981 biography was written by Fergus O'Ferrall - one of the outstanding authorities on O'Connell.
