    Killanin took over the IOC just after the fatal 1972 Munich Olympics, and was in charge for the turbulent 1970;s with the 1976 Montreal Games and the 1980 Moscow Games ( with the subsequent boycott) - his fascinating, behind the scenes account. 

    Lord Killanin was a resident of Spiddal, county Galway, he died in 1999.
