Callinafercy is a small townland between Milltown and Killorglin in County Kerry. For generations, its people tilled the land, harvested the rivers , won the turf and made hay the traditional way.
Part local history, part folklore, part calendar of the rural year, I Heard the Wild Birds Sing is a lyrical evocation of a vanished age -- the author's reminiscence on his childhood. Not only his memories, but recollections from his parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends are included.
