Chorolon: A world torn apart by warring gods, disrupted by unwise mages and ambitious men. In the north, the fisher people are in a state of revolt, oppressed by the sea lords who want to live forever. A renegade mage, an Eloish plainsman and a stranger who rides an Arrarat hawk join together to lead that revolt. In the south, the carnivorous desert rose assaults a land burning under a vengeful sun. The Emperor Xanthon sees his empire suffer and searches for a scapegoat.
London: Eleanor Knight is unhappy and lonely. She believes Chorolon belongs to the past - a past she mourns every day of her life. She thinks that what happens there is no longer anything to do with her.
But then there is a summoning. And a return. And Eleanor finds herself once again caught up in the struggle of the gods themselves.
