A hardcover later printing, 1977, of the reprinted 1973. This book was a single volume edition, based on the original two volume edition first published in the UK in 1920-21.
Thorburn is recognised as one of the pre-eminent illustrator of animals of the 20th century, and the watercolour illustrations are produced here in full colour, one to each page, as well as the original descriptive text. With an introduction by David Attenborough.
Internally very good, dustdarkening to the upper edges of the page block ,and some fade to edges, otherwise very good.
