This practical introduction to Celtic Spirituality has arisen out of the working experience of 'The Centre for Celtic Spirituality' - an ecumenical and charitable project, based in the City of Armagh, Northern Ireland. Working with many who are on a spiritual search, both from the local community and those who come to Ireland on pilgrimage, Celtic spirituality is a shared inspiration for the contemporary spiritual quest. Themes such as Creation, hospitality, a way of living, creative spirituality, pilgrimage and nomadic spirituality, death and the afterlife are interwoven through the colourful tapestry of the experience of the early church in these islands, and speak to us in the 21st century with wisdom, clarity and relevance. In addition, because Celtic Spirituality draws its inspiration from the first Christian church in these islands and therefore represents the roots of all our traditions, its themes very naturally draw people together in a spirit of peace and reconciliation in the common human search for Sacred meaning. Its title 'Sacred Living: practical inspirations from Celtic Spirituality for the contemporary spiritual journey' reflects the practical nature of Celtic Spirituality as an experience to be lived, rather than a theory to be taught. It is an incarnational way of living that acknowledges the Sacred Presence in the very ordinariness of daily life - viewing life from the Biblical perspective, that all things have their origin and ending in the Divine source
