Corkonian Mary MacSwiney was one of the central figures of teh Irish Revolutionary era and beyond - invloved in both Irish Nationalism ( and republicanism, and her role in keeping the memory of her brother Terence, who died on hunger strike .
Her political career as a doctrinaire Republican , and as an early feministbrought her into conflict with the Church, and with the Free State, who she rejected as not being pure to the ideals of 1916.
