Mac Manus gathered a collection of original tales from everyday folklore - primarily stories of interactions with fairies/ the Slua Sí, all from storytellers who were still alive in the 1950's ( most events detailed relate to the early 20th century) . Perhaps uniquely, all the tales in the book are told as if they were true ( or with the premise that the tellers believed them to be real)
