One of Macauley's main points is that Irish Catholics were gradually adopting a less positive view of Catholicism , so not really sure how much in touch with reality he was . However, a detailed look at a host of issues in Ireland - ( just a few years after the Fenian rising) with a focus on church and state, land issues, policing, education etc, as well as trips to much of the country ( and the book opens with a lively description of Kerry funeral)
The front hinge is cracked( in full) spine cocked and alanted, otherwise a good copy.
