Irish Fenian leader Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa was imprisoned in English jails for nearly five years between 1865 and 1870. His grueling experiences were documented in his famous 1874 memoir, "O'Donovan Rossa's Prison Life: Six Years in Six English Prisons".Rossa’s time in captivity was characterized by severe physical hardship, solitary confinement, and frequent transfers between different institutions.
This is the 1967 Anvil Press edition ( retitled as my years in English jails, but content remains teh same as 'Six Years in English Prisons', with an introduction by Seán Ua Cearnaigh.
