A facsimile reprint, 1981 of the slim 1963 56 page booklet issued by the (then) Kilmainham Jail Restoration Committee.
Somewhat unbelievably, given the crucial role it played in Irish history, the then disused jail was not in public ownership and had not been restored since it ceased being used in 1924 ( with, perhapS ironically, Eamon de Valera being the last prisoner) ( It is now a highly popular national monument under the care of the OPW)
A basic history of Irish political prisoners held in the institution from the 1790's to 1924 - a veritable who's who of Irish Republicanism. Also contains a number of patriotic songs and poems .
Stapled booklet in card covers. Internally unmarked. The text was unaltered from the first printings.
