Published by O'Brien Press in association with RTE in 1985, this is a themed collection of vintage and early Irish photography, from earliest days to the advent of WW1, and based on the TV series Shadows of Ourselves. The book describes and illustrates the life of the people of Ireland over a period of 70 years, with chapters focusing on The West of Ireland, Dublin, women, children, religion, fashion, sport and Ireland's role in the Empire.
Many of these came from the author's own extensive photography collection.
