Comprising 46 parishes, it is home to some of the most historic sites in Irish Christianity, including the Rock of cashel, and the imporatnt towns of Thurles , Holy Cross Abbey, and some remarkable buildings, such as the Cathedral of the Assumption, Thurles, consecrated in 1879, and built to an Italianate model.
